SETUP MAMP ON YOUR LOCAL COMPUTER

A great link for reference on how to do this.

Install MAMP on your computer, open it up and start the servers.

A window should open up – click on PHPMYADMIN and create a new database name like “wordpress”

INSTALL WORDPRESS

In your browser, find your copy of wordpress. Mine is here: http://localhost:8888/wordpress/

Go through their famous 5-minute install.

Start by Visit your local site (localhost:port or localhost:port/wordpress), and enter the following information into the database setup form:

database name: wordpress
database host/server: localhost
database user: root
database password: root

Your all set to use WordPress on your MAC! Now, lets configure it with dreamweaver...

CONFIGURE WITH DREAMWEAVER

Great reference link

A few notes:

Made sure you database name is the same as what was entered in PHPMYADMIN – Mine was “wordpress”

Connect using: local/network

Web URL: http://localhost:8888/wordpress/

Check the “testing” checkbox after you save

MIGRATE TO YOUR SERVER WHEN FINISHED

(Note: You still want to create and edit posts in the WordPress Dashboard.) When you get the theme design the way you want it, you can copy just the CSS file to your remote Web server, or use the WordPress export/import features to move the entire blog from your local server to a remote server.
